MJD says he'll resume practicing Monday

    The News
Maurice Jones-Drew (knee) says that he will begin practicing Monday in preparation of the team's week one game against the Broncos, according to the Associated Press.

    Our View
Jones-Drew has been sidelined with some knee issues, and he's recently come out to say that he did not undergo offseason surgery. He's expected to be fully healthy and ready to go against a suspect Denver run defense week one, and he's worthy of a top-three pick in fantasy drafts.

Brandon Jacobs loses starting job to Bradshaw

    The News
According to Jane McManus of ESPN New York, Brandon Jacobs wasn't afraid to show his frustration after Ahmad Bradshaw proved his mettle as the starting running back in New York's final preseason game saying, "It's almost hard to stay positive in a situation like this, but that's what I've got to do. This is a cutthroat, backstabbing business. That's just the way it goes. It's been like that before me. If you expect anything else in a business like this, you're crazy."

    Our View
Bradshaw admitted after the game that he'd taken the starting job from Jacobs, and he earned it. Jacobs has looked sluggish during the preseason, while Bradshaw has provided a spark nearly every time he's touched the ball. Still, this backfield figures to be fueled by committee, and it's hard to imagine the Giants not turning to the massive Jacobs when they get close to the goal line.

David Buehler lifts Cowboys with last second FG

    The News
David Buehler nailed three field goals of over 40 yards, including a 51-yarder, and added a fourth to give the Cowboys a win over the Dolphins in the preseason finale Thursday.

    Our View
That should do it for Buehler. He'll be the starting kicker for Dallas this season after nailing a 31-yard game-winner as time expired. He's been iffy this preseason, but his biggest challenge may now be finding ways to contribute behind a Dallas offense that has struggled mightily thus far. Still, we expect the Cowboys to score early and often, and Buehler's leg strength makes him a very solid fantasy option this season.

RB Chris Ivory needs tests on injured knee

    The News
Christopher Ivory will undergo tests on his knee after getting hurt in the Saints preseason finale Thursday, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

    Our View
Ivory looked like he had a roster spot sewn up as the No. 3 back in New Orleans, but this injury could throw a wrench in those plans. He carried three times for four yards tonight. The extent of the injury is unknown, so be sure to check back for an update on his status.

Jonathan Stewart (heel) will play in opener

    The News
According to the Gaston Gazette, Jonathan Stewart (heel) confirmed Thursday that he will play in the Panthers season opener.

    Our View
Stewart is chomping at the bit, saying, "Yep, I'm ready," after Thursday's game. Stewart's in a timeshare with DeAngelo Williams, but it's been productive for both backs, and he looks like a top of the line RB2 with RB1 upside.

Kenny Britt falls flat in preseason finale

    The News
Kenny Britt was awful again Thursday, dropping two passes and earning a false start penalty in Tennessee's final preseason game, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.

    Our View
The penalty was apparently the last straw, and it got Britt benched. It also earned him a stern lecture from Jeff Fisher and receivers coach Fred Graves. As talented as Britt is, he's done just about everything he can this year to assure himself a backup role.

Hardesty seen with crutches and left knee brace.

    The News
Updating an earlier item, Montario Hardesty was seen using crutches and wearing a knee brace on his left knee after leaving Thursday's preseason game, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

    Our View
Like we said earlier, at least it's not the same knee that sidelined him during all of training camp. Still, there's no word on the severity, and the extra gear isn't a good sign. Hardesty looked strong in the preseason finale, and his loss would be a big blow to the Browns offense.

Joe McKnight not likely to make Jets team

    The News
Coach Rex Ryan hinted that rookie Joe McKnight will not make the team, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

    Our View
Ryan said that he was "disappointed in him" and didn't see how he could make the active roster. McKnight did manage 34 yards on nine carries Thursday, but he also fumbled for the third time this preseason. Expect him to be cut, allowing the Jets to keep two fullbacks.

Derek Anderson tosses for 47 yards as starter

    The News
Derek Anderson started Arizona's preseason finale Thursday, completing 2-of-3 passes for 47 yards.

    Our View
As expected, the Cardinals treated Anderson like the clear-cut starter, and he was pulled after the first series. Matt Leinart came on in relief, but neither quarterback appears to be worthy of a draft pick in re-draft leagues.

Art Rooney will do no "politicking" for Big Ben

    The News
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Steelers owner Art Rooney II "will not be politicking" to have Ben Roethlisberger's suspension reduced by two games.

    Our View
According to the story, Rooney won't be accompanying Big Ben to his meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell Friday, despite previous reports stating otherwise. We didn't think the suspension would be reduced by the three games Rooney was said to be helping to ask for, and this certainly doesn't help.
