The 2014 FFPC Pros vs Joes Draft Challenge enters its 6th year of competition. As in the past, the competition pits the high stakes players at the FFPC (the Joes) against a slew of fantasy industry experts (the Pros).
In 2014 there will again be six divisions . Each division consists of 12 teams. 6 Pros and 6 Joes..
Each division conducts their own 28 round draft, and players will compete within their division to win the league crown. We also keep track of points scored across all divisions, to determine an overall winner. The team with the highest overall points is the 2014 Pros vs Joes Draft Challenge Champion! Will this be the year that a Pro finally wins the overall title?
The braintrust at FantasyMojo.com has long been a player in the high stakes fantasy football arena. When we pitched this idea to the player community over at the FFPC in 2009, in a matter of days, it blossomed into a full blown feature competition. "The FFPC Pros vs Joes Draft Challenge" (humbly conceived by your friends at FantasyMojo.com) was launched, and is one of the premier "expert" leagues in fantasy sports today.
The format is FFPC DraftExperts (or Best Ball). In this format, your best performing players at each position are automatically used for your lineup, based on that week's results. Points are calculated through week 16. This is a total points league, you do not 'compete' againt any other individual team in a given week. You are shooting for total points accumulated over the year. The highest scoring team across all the divisions, at the end of 16 weeks, is crowned the 2014 FFPC Pros vs Joes Draft Challenge Champion There are no waiver wire pickups, or setting of lineups each week. There are no trades, or trading of picks. You do not spend any time managing your team during the season. This is a draft it and forget it league, showcasing your drafting skills, and preseason assessment of players. No babysitting of your team is required, and we can all sit back and follow the standings as the season progresses.
Each league conducts its own 26 round live draft. This year, the drafts will be held using the new league platform of the FFPC.
The 28 round live drafts will be done in serpentine fashion.
The division competitors and draft slots will be announced: TBD
Draft positions will be allocated such that pros and joes will alternate, 1-12. Therefore, you will always have a competitor drafting on either side of you. Additionally, we will alternate initial draft position in each league. This means that in League 1, a Joe will occupy draft slot one. In League 2, a Pro will occupy draft slot one.
Draft Dates: Late July 2014
You will draft 28 players in a standard serpentine format. The 28 players you draft are the 28 players that will be on your team the entire year. Again, there are no waiver wire moves. "Draft It and Forget It", right? We are following the format based on the FFPC DraftExperts Leagues. Of those 28 players, the system will automatically fill out your lineup with your best performing players at each position. Your weekly lineup will consist of the following:
Our scoring system is FFPC scoring. Basically this is a Points Per Reception league, but with the twist of 1.5 points per catch for tight ends. For the gory details, you can go here, but so long as you know the benefits of PPR, you are good to go.
This is the real beauty of the competition. The prizes consist of a series of bounties levied by one side against the other. In 2014, we have the following prizes up for grabs:
The 2014 Industry Pros
Tentatively committed to participate
The 2014 FFPC Joes
Alexander Blake/Chris Holland
Dan Williams and Lou Plzak
All drafts to be broadcast on the High Stakes Fantasy Football Hour on the following dates:
